MACRO Industries, a leading Aerospace and DOD supplier of composite solutions, is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Controller.  This position is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting and financial reporting, preparing both complex and routine accounting while ensuring the accuracy and compliance with all financial reporting, GAAP standards, and DCAA accounting and requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Tracks and records monthly inventory and reviews material margins.
  • Prepares company’s monthly journal and ledger entries, expenditures, and financial records to ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance.  
  • Responsible for ESOP accounting and reporting.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting including the board financial packages.
  • Prepares trial balance and year-end adjusting entries. 
  • Reconciles and ensures the accuracy of balance sheet accounts.
  • Functions as a technical resource in assisting to resolve problems, implement solutions or notify outsource providers.  
  • Works closely with the CFO on various projects as assigned.
  • Manages the setup, security, accuracy and reliability of the company’s ERP and supporting financial systems.
  • Responsible for audits and is the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Files quarterly and annual reports.
  • Maintains DCAA compliance and prepares and/or reviews annual incurred cost reporting.
  • Compiles annual forecast and 12-month rolling model. 
  • Maintains fixed assets and capital project reports.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required.

Experience/Knowledge
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Requires basic computer experience with QuickBooks and strong Excel experience. 
  • Experience and education requirements may be satisfied with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Abilities
  • Solid knowledge of all generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS) and tax regulations.
  • Ability to learn new computer programs quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and accounting regulations.
  • Requires excellent organizational abilities, high degree of accuracy, detail-orientation and ability to effectively prioritize.
  • Demonstrates effective time management, multitasking and ability to handle time sensitive demands, incomplete information, or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrates ability to make sound decisions while getting results through own actions as well as through facilitation by others.  
  • Must exhibit initiative, be able to use good judgment, problem solving skills and take appropriate and proactive action.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and offers quality ideas to improve the company’s processes.
  • Must be able to work effectively as an individual contributor and within a team supporting positive outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Skills
  • Prior ESOP accounting experience.
  • Prior government accounting experience.
